Framework A gains popularity. Framework B points out A's flaws. Developers migrate. Framework C arrives. Meanwhile, the product hasn't improved.

  • Choose tools with long-term maintenance commitments
  • Evaluate by upgrade path, not launch features
  • Question whether you need a framework at all
  • Measure migration cost in engineer-months
